Lord of the Noble House - Matthias Wiesmann


Celadon Palace has drawn quite a lot of attention of the local and national residents despite being a pretty new 5-star hotel. HVTV - a local TV Channel of Hue City - had an interview with our General Manager - Mr. Matthias Wiesmann to find out more what makes the hotel stand out from others in the region:

1. To meet the standards of a 5 star hotel, what fields do you mostly concern?
     Celadon Palace aims to be a leading hotel in Vietnam and has been recognized as such among the guests and travel trade within a short period of time. Celadon Palace is a new hotel and we have introduced it in 2010 to the markets. The business development trend is positive and business is increasing by the day. Celadon Palace has the best MICE facilities in Vietnam and definitely in Hue which are well equipped. This is appreciated by the organizers which feel now confident to promote Hue as a MICE destination. Celadon Palace I believe has the most exciting Meeting Packages in Vietnam and contracts overseas training companies to add to these. Celadon Palace has planed lots of promotion activities to attract the resident market of Hue and Central Vietnam. There are Loyalty Discount Card for all services and Recreation Club Membership Card to bond guests to the hotel. Of course we should not forget the high quality service standard and the friendliness of the staff, and a hand on management team. Celadon Palace participates on all important International Travel Trade Shows, is connected to the Global Reservation System, and has a worldwide client support network. There are representation offices in Japan, Europe, and Asia our main markets.
   All these issues are important and must be ‘complemented’ to our high standards of performance and ‘transferred’ to all our employees in order to be able to deliver the services to our guests. A constant management presence is needed in order for all the services standards being applied to our guests. It is the attention to details which makes a hotel special.
    The Hotel’s management style is governed by one single question: “what effect will our services have on the guest, his/her comfort and convenience, his/her opinion of the hotel, and his/her decision to return?”

2. What will you do in the future to improve the quality of services?
    With the opening of the Celadon Palace we set a new benchmark of true international 5 star hotel standards in Vietnam and Hue in particular. With the constant development of the Vietnamese economy and in particular the tourism industry, the services rendered are changing continuously. This requires a big amount of planning, training, implementing and controlling of our services as well as adding new ones.
    We are organized the first ever Waiter’s Race in Vietnam with the participation of a great number of waiter/ess from the Central Vietnam region in order to increase the awareness of tourism services in this region.
    Through continuous efforts in developing our employees there will be more and more qualified professionals available to improve the quality of services in all levels.
    By observing and checking your markets and competitors as well as by keeping up on the latest trends in the market allows you to improve your services and keep them above your competitors.

3. For the time being, some hotels (in Vietnam) run to “upgrade star” for their hotels, but what they have done was not really effective. Your opinion about this.
    That is true some hotels are overrated as there is no clear guidelines of true star rated services which are in place in other parts of the world.
    A typical 5 star rated hotel is offering the highest degree of guest services. Elegance and style abound and rooms are equipped with top quality linen and amenities. Here at the Celadon Palace, we do have unique bathroom amenities with 100% natural ingredients not available anywhere else in Vietnam and even offer personalized Butler services.
    There are multiple restaurants on site with extensive gourmet food and room service is available 24/7. I can proudly say that we have probably the best team of chefs available in Vietnam who, during their extensive experiences, served from top government functions to royalty and individual celebrities giving us certainly a true 5 star appeal.
   Together with our magnificent pool, the signature Spa and GYM, valet parking and personalized concierge/guest services, Celadon Palace sets us apart from most of the other 5 star hotels in Vietnam. This situation of overrating is current in Vietnam and will continue to be so, however, as the guests are more and more familiar with true star rated services, these overrated hotels will experience a reverse effect on them due to the fact that their facilities and services are not matching with their rating and their guest’s expectation resulting that they will never return.
